How to sell a used phone in Singapore (and get the most for it)
You'll usually get the most for a used phone by selling it privately, on Carousell or through Selutiq on WhatsApp. For the least effort, trade it in at a telco or retailer or sell it to a buy-back shop, which pays less but is instant. Whichever you choose, back it up, sign out of your accounts and factory reset it first.
Your options
| Option | Effort | Price | Speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trade-in at a telco or retailer | Very low | Lower, as credit | Same day |
| Buy-back shop | Low | Lower, as cash | Same day |
| Carousell or Facebook | High | Highest | Days |
| Selutiq (launching soon) | Low | Close to a private sale, minus a planned 3% fee | Days |
Before you sell: protect your data
- Back up photos, chats and files. Back up WhatsApp separately in its settings.
- Sign out of your Apple ID or Google account. On an iPhone, turn off Find My, or the buyer can't use it.
- Unpair watches and earbuds, and remove the phone from banking and authenticator apps.
- Remove your SIM and any memory card.
- Factory reset the phone.
How to price it
Look up recent listings for the same model and storage size. Battery health, screen condition and whether it has the box all move the price. Get a trade-in quote first: it's your floor, and anything above it is the reward for selling privately. More in our pricing guide.
Selling it safely
Phones attract scammers. Never send the phone before payment has arrived, don't click payment links a buyer sends you, and be wary of buyers who want to pay more than you asked. Read how to avoid scams when selling online. With Selutiq, the buyer pays upfront, the payment is held until they receive the phone, and a courier collects it from your door.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I sell my old iPhone in Singapore?
Sell it privately on Carousell or through Selutiq for the best price, or trade it in at a telco, Apple or a phone retailer for the least effort. Buy-back shops pay cash on the spot but usually less.
Should I trade in or sell my phone?
Trade in if convenience matters most; sell privately if you want the most money. Get a trade-in quote first and use it as the lowest price you'll accept.
How do I wipe my phone before selling it?
Back it up, sign out of your Apple ID or Google account (turn off Find My on iPhone), remove your SIM and memory card, then factory reset it from settings.
